New Bag of Tricks

Thomas has increased his hand eye coordination exponentially in the last week. It's been great to see him "figure out" how to open hand grab instead of getting frustrated fisting at objects.

Here he is grabbing for his zebra.

Had to throw this in. Halle got stuck in Thomas' exersaucer during the Aggie game. She can climb in and out by herself and is happy to show you how.

He found the remote today. Guess what toy Santa's bringing him this year?

Thomas has also figured out that things are going on behind him. He likes to "look" back there by arching his back instead of turning around. Apparently, this is more efficient and fun.
This is really funny to watch unless you're carrying him and he decides he likes what you just passed and arches with no warning...

Thomas says to have a great week!

No Way!

Can you believe it? A&M beat Texas for the second year in a row and the Aggies are rid of Fran. We just thought we had things like a healthy son and great family for which to be thankful. Now we have the hopes and dreams of Steve Spurrier to be thankful about.
"Dear Santa, all we want for Christmas is a coach who likes to play offense all the time, not just in his last game..."

Oh, by the way, Thomas is sitting "up" by himself now.

Leaning tower of Thomas.

And we all fall down.

Snowy Thanksgiving

For any of you that watched the Cowboys game and thought, "Hey, is that snow?" you were correct. Here's Brandon in the middle of the street enjoying the snow and some wine. Don't let anyone say that snow/ice/freezing rain gets between us and our adult cocktails!

Turkey Coma

Apparently all the turkey I ate had an effect on Thomas!

Starting the tradition of sleeping after dinner and during the big game.

He's a professional at "sleep eating"

Snuggling with Pop.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. We're very thankful for all of the blessings in our life- especially our little man and our great family.

Spoonin'

Thomas has officially moved into the stage of needing more than what Mama can give him. I've been so excited (and so has Julie) the last month because he's started going longer between feedings and taking more milk at each feeding. Then, after the E.R. visit, he decided 8 oz of milk every 4 hours wasn't enough. In fact, 8 oz wasn't enough every 3 hours. (Can you say growth spurt?) So, we've started the rice cereal. Brandon and I were kind of nervous about the first "spoon" feeding, but it was all in vain. As you can see, he was more than ready to eat from the spoon.

Helping Mama get it to his mouth...

"What took you guys so long? I've been trying to tell you I dig the spoon and you just weren't catching my vibe!"

Not only was this his first real cereal, this is his first time in his high chair. It dwarfs him. But that's what they make safety straps and bumbos for...
By the way, at the his check up on Wednesday he got the all clear on his ears. He also weighed in at 16lb and 4 oz. That's 8 oz more than last week...

Early Bird gets the Worm...

...and wakes mom and dad up at 4:00 a.m. to play. Yes, we're happy to have our little man and his funny personality back, but his sleep schedule has yet to recover. But you can't complain when you wake up to sounds of a little man talking and laughing. I don't care what time it is, I don't want to miss a second of his smiling face. Here are some pics from today's early morning. (Can't wait until he learns that Saturdays are for sleeping in! Jana- can you work on teaching Thomas this for us?)

update

So we went to our doctor on Monday and turns out it was Thomas' ears all along. He had a perforated ear drum. OUCH! He's feeling much better now. Brandon and I are very happy to have our little man back.

Nascar and the E.R.

I had grand plans of detailing our outing (sans Thomas) to the Busch series race with my parents this weekend. (Loud does not even come close to describing it.)I even kept mental note of the "notable" fans to share with you. Which I must say kudos to the woman who has a full Willie Nelson pictorial on her bicep. That's what I call a true fan. We ended up having a great time, with some help from Jack Daniels, but were disappointed because there was no "big wreck."

However, this turned out to not be the most eventful part of our weekend. At approx 2:30 a.m. Sunday(that's with the time change) Thomas woke up crying and didn't stop. We knew something was wrong, but until today, the worst we had experienced was some gassy stomach and a couple of colds. So after a couple of doses of Mylacon and no break in the crying, we headed to the E.R. at 8:30. We get there and his ears are clear. Which is a good thing, but then they have to run tests. Blood and urine. I had to leave the room and let Brandon stay with T.
Then they come back with the results. Let's just say the words "We just need to rule out bacterial meningitis" is not something you ever want to hear. Especially when you know what they have to do to test for it. I, being the sleep deprived and emotional mother, became the parent I used to make fun of. After freaking out in the middle of Cook's Children's and then being reassured he's fine and meningitis free, we went home with the most vague diagnosis ever. Pretty much, "You're kid is sick. His white count is up. He has a fever... But we don't know why. That'll be $100."
So he still has a fever. But he's feeling better with the Tylenol. I think the anti-biotic shot is kicking in. And we're letting him watch all the football he wants. In his chair. Naked. With a wet rag on his head.
Whatever it takes.

Happy Halloween- belated
