My heart just broke a little

I can't deny it. I no longer can ignore it. This morning Thomas went up to the shower door, put his hand out, reached for Brandon, and said,"Dada." Ouch. Thought for sure that nursing this kid for 8 months was gonna win me some points in the first word battle. I was wrong. Now if he says ball or car next, we're going to have to have a serious discussion...:)

Maybe I don't nap as well as Brandon...

Now here's a special message from Thomas himself (ie Brandon wants to let him type)

So many things, so little time

Things keep getting busier around here. Here's a quick synopsis of the last two weeks- Thomas started his in-home daycare/play group when we got back from Mardi Gras. Ms. Deborah is a true Godsend. We miss seeing Aunt Julie and Halle everyday, but with Julie out of commission for the next 25 or so weeks, we found Deborah just in time.
He's already got a girlfriend (Julia) who's 10 months. (I know, an older woman already.) She's a champion crawler and so now he's started crawling and hasn't stopped. Oh, and he's figured out how to pull up... on everything. Can you say baby proofing? We spent all last weekend putting up gates, latching cabinets, and covering the landing railing with Plexiglas-ish material.
Mind you we did this all while harboring a sinus and ear infection with the added bonus of bronchitis. I believe that's known as a hat trick. See below for the snot covered fits we were throwing when we didn't feel well. He's also cut two more teeth- but not the upper middle. He's cut his eyeteeth next to his upper middle teeth. We might be calling him Fang for awhile.

Thomas has two favorite things now- anything with wheels and his yellow bat. In case you're wondering, he's all boy.

A boy and his bat.

The afore mentioned fit. Such a sad face.

Super crawler.

Motivation.

Tada!

Happy Mardi Gras

Brandon and I went on our first sans-Thomas trip to New Orleans last weekend. We had a blast, but we were missing our little man by Tuesday. Here are the pictures from our fabulous weekend with the Thompsons. Please forgive some of the expressions in the photos. Although we tried, its hard not to drink everything Jim Thompson gives you.:)

The happy, newly engaged couple. Welcome to the family, Anne!

Daisy already knows what to do at the parade. "Throw me some beads, Mister!"

Bethany and Janie getting ready to ride on the Pink Lady float in the SpanishTown parade.

The boys. And yes, it was 9:00 am and those are Miller Lites, but it's Mardi Gras. I'm sure it was 5:00 in the middle of China somewhere...

All masked up.

Jake, Jack, David and Jim before they loaded onto their Bacchus float.

At the ball. Curse the humidity and my curly hair!

Justin doing his Anne face.:)

The group at Bacchus- this is before Bethany had do regulate on the gaggle of 22 year olds that thought they had claimed our parade space. Little did they know the wrath of a pregnant woman at Mardi Gras. She was already having to put up with us drinking and being stupid. She got to take out all her frustration on them.

After the parade.

Okay, I'm throwing this in here because I have to. Here's one of Hugh Heffner's girlfriends. I think this is Holly, but I could be wrong. We saw Kendra too. And if you're wondering how I know who they are, well, let's just say their TV show is like a train wreck. You want to be able to pass by without looking, but you just can't. And then suddenly it's 5 hours later and you've watched a mini-marathon of The Girls Next Door.

Jack and Nick at Pat O's.

Thomas with our spoils.

Just like Daddy

Except Brandon might have gone for the red and black fishing pole instead of the Dora one...
